The mission of the Hillsborough River State Park Preservation Society, Inc., is to enhance and perpetuate the Hillsborough River State Park and the Fort Foster State Historic Site.
In 1936, in cooperation with President Roosevelt’s “New Deal” programs, the Civilian Conservation Corps acquired and developed the land which would become Hillsborough River State Park. Today, the 3,383 acres which make up this park, encompass many diverse environmental habitats, as well as, several distinct wildlife communities.
